Cause and Effect Matrix

The Cause and Effect Matrix, also known as the C&E Matrix, is a tool from Lean Six Sigma used to represent and prioritize multiple influencing factors on a defect (effect).

Objective:
  • Effects of causes
  • Prioritize causes by importance
  • Better understanding the process
  • Develop the right solutions
Tips:
  • The results of the Cause and Effect Matrix may be subjective.
  • The group size for the evaluation should be a maximum of 6 people.
  • Perform the evaluation multiple times.
