The SIPOC Diagram is a classic tool used in the Six Sigma Define phase to delineate the process steps where the causes of the problem are suspected.

Objective:
  • Visualize the process
  • Define the process boundaries
  • Ensure a unified understanding of the process
  • Identify influencing factors
  • Define the process outcome
Tips:
  • Use Post-its to capture information.
  • Each process step must be measurable in time.
  • Does the project title match the process in the diagram?
  • Capture start and stop points using samples.
