Procedure:

Kanban containers

Each part is assigned to a container with a defined maximum capacity. This container is supplied by the vendor and used until it reaches the machine.

Information on the Kanban card

For each part, create at least one Kanban card.

Information on the card:
▪ Description
▪ Quantity of parts (capacity)
▪ Consumer and supplier
▪ The Kanban card serves as an order card

Control

When the container is empty, it is sent back to the supplier. Typically, a second container is available to continue work. The supplier refills the first container.

Kanban rules

The control principle is based on the following rules:
▪ The process is always triggered by the consumer
▪ Parts are delivered only in standard containers
▪ Only the necessary amount should be taken from the containers
▪ Capacity must be available

Kanban cards must be customized. This means the information on the cards may vary between companies.
kanban - 1
The Kanban board visualizes the process flow and shows the location of each container. The Kanban cards move from column to column until the task is marked as “completed”.
Kanban Steuerung

According to the pull principle, only what is needed by the customer is produced. This prevents the creation of excess inventory.
